It’s no secret the holidays become incredibly stressful. From running about doing shopping to dealing with family obligations, all of it can take a significant toll on the body—especially when you can’t sleep at night! If you’re looking for a few ways to rejuvenate your body while you rest, try these three tips for a more comfortable and restful sleep!
- Watch what you eat and drink! Over eating can cause you to be uncomfortable when you try to sleep—just as going to bed hungry can be distracting and uncomfortable as well! Make sure that you eat a balanced meal at least 4 hours before you go to sleep so your body can function and digest. If you feel hungry before you lie down, have a light snack. Just steer clear of the caffeine and alcohol! Both will stimulate the brain and make rest difficult.
- Stay on schedule! Even through the stress of the holiday season, try to keep to a regular sleep schedule. Your body needs sleep; your mind needs sleep. Be the best you that you can be by giving your body and mind a chance to relax and regenerate. Studies show that most adults need between five and 8 hours of sleep a night—stick to that schedule, even through the holidays!
- Regular chiropractic treatments! When your spine and neck are in alignment, your body will function as it is intended. If you suffer from neck or back pain, check your mattress, your pillow, and your spinal alignment! Here at Advanced Family Chiropractic, the doctor will gladly analyze your pillow in regards to your neck and make her recommendations for your sleeping posture.
Have a happy and healthy holiday season!
